Abstract

914,540. Laminated wood; pliers. JÍNKÍPIN-VULCANA. A.B. Feb. 23, 1961 [Feb. 24, 1960], No. 6739/61. Classes 145 and 61. A cellular core for building boards is made from thin moist wood strips 5 by joining them together at substantially equidistant points 6 by stapling, gluing or by punched-out tongues and then drying the core while the strips are maintained in the desired wave formation. The grain of the strips 5 is preferably perpendicular to their length and tension members 4 with their grain coinciding with their length may also be provided. The connecting tongues 8, 10 may be made by pliers which comprise three jaws journalled on a shaft 11, the jaw 14 having punches 15 which pass through apertures 16, 17 in the jaws 13, 12 holding the strips 5. Two punches 15 with oppositelyangled faces are preferably provided at each connection point. The strips may be joined together flat and be expanded transversely to wave formation or, before joining, may be bent round a comb structure by two other movable comb members. The core may be maintained in wave formation during drying by a pin plate or by a framework carrying brushes, preferably of plastic, so that the bristles penetrate between the strips.
