Abstract

914,166. Road vehicle spring suspensions. MOULTON DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Nov. 17, 1959 [Dec. 23, 1958]. No. 41520/58. Class 108(2). A road vehicle suspension comprises a rubber sandwich spring a rigid member 2 of which is rigidly located relatively to a bearing 15 for a road wheel suspension arm 12 by sheet metal 16 in tension, the other rigid member 3 of the spring being connected by a strut 20 with the arm 12 at a joint 21. The position of the latter gives the spring a leverage of between 4 and 6 to I. The arm 12 is a transversely disposed upper wishbone link. In a modification (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the arm 12 may be in the form of a single arm disposed longitudinally. Specification 793,772 is referred to in the Provisional Specification. In an alternative form of the invention described in the Provisional Specification, the strut 20 is replaced by a telescopic hydraulic damper. Specification 763,432 also is referred to.
