Abstract

914,080. Testing ships' propulsion units. WARNOWWERFT WARNEMUNDE VEB. Sept. 22, 1960, No. 32607/60. Class 114. A device for testing a ship's propulsion unit whilst maintaining the ship stationary comprises a chamber 1 which totally encloses the propeller. The chamber 1 is floated to the stern of the ship and trimmed into position from below using the float cells 5, to be secured in position by connecting lines and stays 8 and 9. Sliding bulkheads 7 are provided which take up the form of the stern post of the hull. The propeller jet is arranged to circulate around the cylindrical bodies 3 which are provided with adjustable brake surfaces 4 enabling a load to be placed on the unit.
