Abstract

913,384. Cup dispensers. AUTOMATIC CANTEEN CO. OF AMERICA. Aug. 4, 1960, No. 27107/60. Class 78 (1). A paper cup dispenser (Figs. 1, 8) is formed as a ring 12 furnished with cams 17. Each cam 17 is furnished with a portion 18 and a portion 42 so that, as the cams are simultaneously rotated, the lip 19 of lowermost cup 20 passes between the two portions of each cam and permits the said cup to drop. Cam portion 42 is cut in such a way that the lip makes line engagement with each cam so as to avoid stoppages. Each cam is made of nylon. Adjustment for differing sizes of cup (Figs. 1 and 4).-The ring 12 has a fixed framework 27 secured at 28 to fixed supports 13 and carries the six cams 17 pivotally as shown. The adjustment is made by outer ring 26 which has top and bottom portions each furnished with curved slots 31, there being corresponding radial slots 30 formed in framework 27 so that when outer ring 26 is rotated the curved slots 31 cause pin 23 of each cam 17 to move inwardly or outwardly along radial slots 30, thus displacing the cams to allow for cups of differing diameters. Dispensing operation of cam (Figs. 4 and 5).- This is effected by actuator ring 38 which is contained within the framework 27 and carries for each cam a link 48 pivoted at 49 to said actuator ring and linked at 52 to crank 56 secured to the cam. The operator grips arm 39 and thereby oscillates ring 38 to cause each cam to move in and out so as to release each time a cup 20.
