Abstract

913,123. Swash-plate pumps. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd., JOSEPH. June 6, 1961 [June 22, 1960], No. 21822/60. Class 102(1). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXIX]. In a swash-plate pump an annular chamber 16 is formed between a flange 8a on the rotor 8 8 and a member 2 prevented from movement towards the swash-plate, chamber 16 communicating with a central, liquid-filled chamber 11 so that, when in operation, centrifugal force acts to pressurize liquid in chamber 16 to bias rotor 8 against a valve plate 5. In the construction shown, chamber 16 is formed between sleeves 13 and 14. The pump housing 1 is maintained full of liquid at inlet pressure and communicates with chamber 11 through a passage 12.
