A ball or float valves comprises a wedgeshaped closure member 12 co-operating with corresponding seats at the inner ends of aligned inlet and outlet passages 15, 16, the casing 17 of the valve having a mounting 23 for a pivotal float-carrying lever 13 which engages a valve spindle 18 to open and close the valve.
