In a forced flow, once through steam boiler comprising a feed regulator 1, a preheater 2, an evaporator 3, a separator 4 and superheater sections 6, 7, and wherein water collected in the separator is conveyed through a pipe 8 to be injected into the tube system at a point 9 between the superheaters, the moisture content of the steam leaving the evaporator is maintained at a constant value irrespective of load change to prevent the total evaporation and consequent salts deposition in the evaporator which otherwsie would occur at low loads by diverting a regulated quantity of feedwater from the evaporator through a pipe 10 and adding it to the water flowing in the pipe 8. The flow of water in the pipe 10 is controlled by a valve 11 the setting of which is adjusted by a regulator 14 when the ratio of boiler feedwater flow as signalled by a meter 12 to the water or the steam flow from the separator as respectively signalled by a meter 13 or a meter 13<SP>1</SP> departs from a preset value.
