Abstract

693,330. Distributing feedwater in steam boilers. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. June 12, 1951 [July 12, 1950], No. 13919/51. Class 123 (ii) In a steam boiler comprising a feed pump 1, economiser 2, main vaporizer 3, separator 4 and superheater 17, 18, at least a part of the water from the separator 4 is forced through a secondary vaporizer 8 to a secondary separator 10 from which steam is directed through a pipe 13 to the steam outlet pipe 7 of the separator 4 and water is blown down at 12. The pipe 13 may be connected to the superheater 17, 18 between the sections thereof or, alternatively, direct to the pipe 7 between the said superheater and' a throttle. The quantities of water discharged from the two separators 4, 10 are regulated by valves 14, 12 respectively controlled by impulse transmitters 15, 16 in dependence on the water level in said separators. The transmitter 15 also controls a valve 20 in a by-pass pipe 19 between the pump 1, or pipe 7, and the vaporizer 8 to permit water, or steam, to flow to the latter when the water discharge from the separator 4 falls unduly.
