Spring-clip retaining means comprises an annular ring 1 split radially into at least two arcuate parts with an external circumferential rib 2 to engage in an internal groove 6 of a tubular member 5 and an internal circumferential groove 3 for receiving a split ring 7. Conveniently, the rib 2 may correspond in size to a standard circlip, the groove 3 accommodating a circlip one size smaller than this standard.
