[Also in Group XXV] A yielding detent for locating a rod 7 in one of four axial positions comprises a cylindrical housing 9 in which slidable collars 11, 12 are spring-urged towards each other and against a central snap ring 15 mounted in the housing 9, the collars 11, 12 having inclined surfaces 16, 17 which urge a row of detent balls 18 into engagement with one of four annular grooves 21 . . . 24 in a cylindrical member 19 attached to the rod 7.
