Abstract
911,430. Mining shields. NIKEX NEHEZIPARI KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. June 29, 1961, No. 23586/61. Class 85. A mining shield advanced hydraulically to a working face 50 comprises a series of elements X1, X2, X3 . . . Xn each having a base 2, a curved member 1 pivoted to the base and held by a prop 5, and a roof member 3 pivoted to the member 1 and held by a prop 4. The props 4, 5 are screw operated, the props 4 incorporating hydraulic means 16 permitting measurement of the roof load and collapse of the prop under excessive roof load. One set of alternate elements having edges 25 facilitating the collapse of the roof are connected to a bar 26, and the other set of elements having plates 17 hinged to the members 3 have hydraulic advancing rams 13 connecting the bases to the bar. The shield is moved up to the face by actuating the rams 13 to thrust the elements having edges 25 to the face and by expanding their props when positioned at the face. The plates 17 are then lowered, the props on the elements carrying the plates are slackened, and these elements pulled to the face by the rams.
