Abstract

911,272. Saggers &c. SOC. CERAMICA ADRIATICA S.p.A. April 27, 1961 [Feb. 6, 1961], No. 15319/61. Class 51 (2). A device for supporting tiles in glaze kilns comprises a set of rectangularly sectioned saggers with open ends and wing-shaped tile supports on their side walls, with their top and lower surfaces confined by longitudinal beads, and connected together by spacing plates with recesses to engage the beading, and shaped end portions for interconnection. Tiles P may be supported in the saggers (as in Fig. 1) or across between consecutive saggers, Fig. 4 (not shown). In the preferred embodiment the top, 5, and lower, 6, surfaces of the saggers are concave in plan, as are the edges 17, 18, 19 of the interconnecting plates 10, which are arranged so that one edge 17 of one connecting plate, and one edge 19 of the adjacent plate are vertically in line with one edge 9 of each sagger in that particular column of the set. The mortise and tenon joints 16, 15 of the interconnecting plates are arranged off centre to the saggers, but are in line horizontally, with two joints under each sagger.
