Abstract
507,574. Coke ovens. WOODALLDUCKHAM (1920), Ltd., and RICHARDS, F. B. Dec. 16, 1937, No. 31815. [Class 51 (ii)] In a concrete supporting plate for a coke oven battery comprising a number of sections 7 supported at their transverse edges on pillars or arches 8 in a manner leaving expansion gaps 9, the plates are located relative to the pillars by projections 13 on the latter engaging recesses 14 on the plate edges, projections 15 on intermediate rows of pillars engaging central recesses, and both projections being continuous with raised ribs 16 on the plates built into the battery along its centre line and preventing lateral movement of the plates. Depending lateral ribs also on the plates are seated on recesses at the ends of the arches and are faced, like all the contacting surfaces, with metal to facilitate expansion slip.
