Abstract

911,028. Injection-moulding machines. AOKI, K. Feb. 17, 1961 [Feb. 19, 1960], No. 6030/61. Class 87(2). A nozzle assembly 2 screwed to an injection cylinder 1 contains a passage 4 communicating with an orifice 5, and a needle valve 6 disposed in the passage 4, the valve being adjustable relative to the orifice to control the initial injection pressure. A spring 8 abuts against a disc 9 fitted to the spindle 7 of the needle valve 6, which is thus moved to close the orifice 5. The tension in the spring 8 may be adjusted by rotation of a handwheel 12 fixed to a screw member 10 which is fitted in a screw-threaded aperture 211 of the nozzle assembly and abuts against the free end of the spring 8. As plasticized material is fed along the passage 4 the pressure in the nozzle builds up until it is sufficient to overcome the tension in the spring 8, when the needle valve 6 is moved to the right in Fig. 1 to open the orifice 5. The assembly is heated by an element 15 and material which leaks past the spindle 7 escapes through an opening 14. In alternative embodiments the axis X may be at right angles to the axis Y-Y or the passage 4 may be elbow-shaped so that the axes X and Y-Y are parallel and offset.
