Abstract
A natural or synthetic polymer, which is not a vinyl chloride polymer, is cured by subjecting the polymer to ionizing radiation such as radiation from cobalt 60, while in the solid state and in the presence of a compound having the general formula <FORM:0909061/IV(a)/1> wherein R3 represents a divalent aliphatic or aromatic organic residue, such as 1,5-naphthalene diallyl diurethane, phenylene 1,4-diallyl diurethane or 2,4-toluene diallyl diurethane. The polymer may be natural rubber or gutta-percha, polyisoprene, polychloroprene, a copolymer of butadiene and styrene or acrylonitrile, a copolymer of isobutylene and a diolefine, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyisobutylene.
