Abstract
Polymeric mono-olefine compositions of solid polymers, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and copolymers of ethylene and propylene or styrene, and from 0,005 to 1,25% based on the polymer of 13-docosenamide, have improved slip and non-blocking characteristics, especially in the form of a film. The 13-docosenamide is dispersed in the polymer by conventional solvent, or dry techniques at an elevated temperature between 110 DEG C. and 250 DEG C., and carbon black, titanium dioxide, clays, diatomaceous earth, calcium silicates, and antioxidants such as aromatic amines and hindered phenols e.g. 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-methyl phenol may be included. Specification 802,059 is referred to.ALSO:13-Docosenamide is prepared by treating either cis- or trans- 13-docosenoic acid e.g. a commercial grade of erucic acid with thionyl chloride and then with ammonium hydroxide. Specification 802,059 is referred to.
