Abstract

908,926. Conduits; expansion joints. INVENTA A.G. FUR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG. Aug. 24, 1961 [Sept. 5, 1960], No. 30580/61. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). A conduit comprises a synthetic plastic pipe 1, formed in sections, which is supported in a metal pipe 2 and arranged therein so that the sections can expand or contract relative to each other upon variations in temperature. As shown, the plastic pipe sections 1 are fixed so axially within the metal pipe sections 2 by means of sleeves 6, 6a, and flanges 5 which are gripped between the external flanges 4 that act to connect and seal the metal pipe sections together. The sleeve 6a is rigidly connected to the plastic pipe whereas the latter is movable longitudinally within the sleeve 6, a seal between the sections of pipe 1 and the sleeve 6 being formed by O-rings 8 disposed in grooves 7. A spacer 10 is provided on each plastic pipe section.
