[Also in Group XVII] A box for dispensing a measured quantity of powdered or granular material comprises a dosage chamber 4 having a plane-edged orifice, a storage chamber 3 communicating with the chamber 4 and a slidable closure 5 which in the open position closes the chamber 3 from the chamber 4 without closing the orifice thereof and in the closed position closes this orifice without closing the chamber 3 from the chamber 4, the closure 5 being provided with an extension 7 to sweep any excess material back into the chamber 3 as the box is opened. A stop 6 determines the open position in which the extension 7 registers with a wall 2. Projections on the closure 5 may engage stop positions in the slideway to secure the closure in the open or closed position. In a modification, Fig. 4, a replaceable insert container 10 is provided so that the volume of the dosage chamber may be altered. The box body may be made of opaque or transparent synthetic resin, sheet aluminium or iron and the closure 5 of flexible material.
