Abstract

907,189. Ferro-resonant circuits. BROOKHIRST IGRANIC Ltd. April 13, 1959 [Feb. 13, 1959], No. 5001/59. Class 40 (9). A series ferro-resonant circuit comprising a linear capacitor C and a saturable inductor S is triggered from a low to a high current state by movement of a permanent magnet towards the inductor or by relative movement between the permanent magnet and a magnetic shunt. The direction of movement is reversed to restore the current to its initial value, the extent of movement necessary being reduced by short-circuiting the capacitor through a transistor t. The ferro-resonant circuit may be energized from a 2 kc/s. supply, and a half-wave rectified output derived from the capacitor which is periodically short-circuited by a 50 c/s. supply applied to the transistor base by way of a saturating transformer T. The short-circuiting equipment may be common to a number of ferro-resonant circuits connected to terminals t<SP>2</SP>, t<SP>3</SP>.
