Abstract

904,670. Multi-cylinder two-stroke engines. SINCOCKS, A. H. Feb. 7, 1961 [Nov. 24, 1959; Sept. 6, 1960], Nos. 39767/59 and 30675/60. Class 7(2) Each cylinder B1 is scavenged and charged from another crankcase A3 via a duct M1 throughout the open period of the corresponding transfer port H1. As shown, the cylinders operate at 120 degrees intervals and the residue of the filling of each crankcase is transferred to its own cylinder by a duct L3. In a modification, there are two opposed sets, each of three cylinders in line, the cylinders operating at 60 degrees intervals. The cylinders may be horizontal, and may operate by compression ignition, or use spark plugs F1 or incandescent ignition devices, together with liquid fuel injection or a carburetter. The first Provisional Specification refers to the use of rotary crankcase inlet valves and the second Provisional Specification describes an engine in which one cylinder is a pump cylinder only.
