Abstract

903,901. Electromagnetic relays. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1959 [Feb. 12, 1958], No. 4578/58. Class 38 (5). In a D.C. relay having a permanent magnet to provide magnetic blow-out, the contact springs have extensions forming arcing horns adjacent their contact surfaces. As shown, the moving contact spring 11 is actuated by a stud 19 on the armature 16 and the fixed contact spring 10 is secured to a support 20 by studs 21 which may be of insulating material. The support 20 also carries the permanent magnet 23 which has poles on each side of the contacts 22 and may be coated with insulating material. Alternatively, normally closed contacts may be provided with the spring 11 mounted above the spring 10 and support 20 and the stud 19 passing through holes in both members 10 and 20 (Fig. 2, not shown).
