899,497. Boring and milling machines. SOC. DES FORGES ET ATELIERS DU CREUSOT. Oct. 28, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958], No. 36553/59. Class 83 (3). A machine-tool, e.g. a boring or milling machine, comprises an arm 3 movable in a housing 4 by a screw 14 to support, on its projecting portion, a part, e.g. a tool-head, for operation by a spindle 2. The arm is supported by bearing surfaces 6, 7, the latter being engaged by a ramp 10 which depresses the end of the arm to compensate for bending of the projecting portion of the arm under the weight of the tool-head &c. The axial position of the ramp is adjustable by moving a wedge 11. The lower surface of the arm is supported by eccentricallymounted rollers 15.
