Abstract

896,561. Racks. HOPE & SANKEY HUDSON Ltd., THOMAS. Feb. 20, 1961 [Nov. 21, 1959], No. 39583/59. Class 52(3) A collapsible rack for books or the like comprises an even number of panels (four in this case) 1 . . . 4 hinged together along their vertical edges by screwed studs 8 so that the rack may be folded, diagonal rigidity being provided by removable bars 9 in the erected position, and U-shaped members 7 being provided to hold books &c. Some of the studs 8 are elongated to engage the ends 9a of the bars 9 or may be elongated to form a continuous hinge pin at the corners, in which case the bars 9 are either collapsible or telescopic. Depending feet members 10 are provided on each panel and may (as shown) be integral with vertical members 6 of the panel. The feet 10 may fit into the angle sectioned sides of a base member with castors (Fig. 2, not shown). A clip may be provided to hold the bars 9 when the rack is collapsed. The diagonal stays may be replaced by short stays across each corner.
