896,119. Two-part couplings; plugboards. BURNDY CORPORATION. July 15, 1960 [July 21, 1959], No. 24661/60. Class 38 (1). Pin connectors 14, 16 on the ends of insulated wires 18, 20, entering recesses 12 in an insulating block 10 via apertures 60 in the spring- loaded insulating covers 36, 38 which have rails 44 sliding in channels 40 near the end faces of the block, are locked in position by the engagement under the influence of spring 52 of the edge 64 of cover apertures 60 with slots 62 in the connectors. A connector is inserted into the insulating block 10 by pushing the connector against an inclined canning surface 66 on the edge 64 of aperture 60 thus depressing the cover and aligning its apertures with the recesses in the block. Removal of connectors is effected after manual depression of the cover. The block 10 may be mounted by insertion of its feet 22 into frame channel 24, and several blocks may be held side by side on the frame by the engagement of tongue and groove portions 28 and 30 of adjacent blocks, tight fitting being ensured by forcing flexible tooth 29 on the tongue into seat 31 of the groove.
