Abstract

1,000,554. Two-part couplings. McMURDO INSTRUMENT CO. Ltd. Nov. 15, 1961, No- 28158/60. Heading H2E. A socket 5 for a multi-contact plug-andsocket connector comprises a body 6 having in one face 7 recesses 8 partly occupied by contactmembers 11 into which plug pins are inserted by first positioning them in the unoccupied parts of the recesses and subsequently moving them laterally to engage contacts 11. Each member 11 consists of a flat portion 12 held in a slot 10, and a slotted portion forming two arms 13 which are bent over to rest on side-wall projections. 9. Locating pins and recesses may be provided on the plug-and-socket bodies, and a cam and lever assembly may be used to move the co-operating contacts into engagement.
