A bearing for the pivot p of a shaft P comprises a stone 6 having a conical recess 8 to receive the pivot p and a frusto-conical external surface adapted to be disposed in a cylindrical recess 14 in a housing 1 and resiliently located therein by a substantially flat spring 10 whose ends are received in an annular recess 11 in the housing. In a modification, the stone has a cylindrical extension 19 around which a spring 22 is disposed. Modified forms of the spring are shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 6.
