Abstract

887,939. Cone bearings. TIECHE, E. E. April 14, 1960 [Jan. 14, 1959], No. 1325/59. Class 12 (1). A jewelled bearing for a pivot 6 has a jewel 12 resiliently mounted in a support 1 having a housing 4 therein, so that the jewel can slide axially and tilt in order to absorb axial and radial forces which the pivot may undergo. The jewel is urged by a spring 16 against a frusto-conical face 8 of the housing 4, the jewel being radiused at 14 and 15 to facilitate tilting thereof. In a modification a pusher 23, Fig. 2, having a head 24, is interposed between the jewel 30 and the spring 22.
