888,494. Surgical traction apparatus. FULLER, J. E., and FULLER & CO. Ltd., WILLIAM, G. May 10, 1960 [May 12, 1959], No. 16187/59. Class 81 (2). An attachment device for holding the foot, in applying traction, comprises a sole plate and a member which fits around the top of the heel. The plate 20 is set obliquely on its mounting and carries a strap 24 which is passed around behind the heel, so that the tension is transmitted to the heel. A second strap 26 keeps the foot in engagement with the plate 20 and a third strap 25 may be used to assist in positioning it. In the form described, the plate 20 is rotatable about the axis of a threaded rod 19 which, for the purpose of applying traction, is adjustable through a sleeve 17 by a nut 23. The sleeve is also adjustable for height by a telescopic arrangement of a vertical rod 16 in a tube 14 and this again is adjustable along a horizontal rod 9 by a clamping sleeve 11.
