Abstract

885,391. Agricultural implements. ROOT HARVESTERS Ltd. Feb. 24, 1958 [Nov. 23, 1956], No. 35843/56. Class 6(1). A thinning apparatus for plants comprises cutters 41 mounted on a bar 38 pivotally mounted on a shaft 33 which is oscillated by means of a shaft 53 by means of arms 45,52 and link 50. The shaft 53 is oscillated by means of a rod 56 and crank 57 driven by gearing from a tractor power shaft. The apparatus is provided with wheels 23 and is arranged to be attached to the tractor three point linkage 17. The shaft 33 is mounted in a member 24 pivoted in a shaft 27, the member being provided with an adjustable wheel 49. In a modification tools are mounted on each end of a bar 38 which is attached at its centre to the shaft 33.
