The end links of an E- shaped core of an inductance are bent as shown at 17, 18, 19, 20 (Fig. 4) around the outer circumference of the coil 23 positioned on the middle limb of the core. The device may be surrounded by a steel, brass or aluminium shell 15, which may have a base or cover to make it cup-shaped, and may be used to measure shaft displacements or vibrations in turbo-machines.
