Abstract
883,412. Gyratory crushers. NORDBERG MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 8, 1960 [Sept. 15, 1959], No. 31031/60. Class 59. The lower end 22 of the main shaft of a gyratory crusher is supported on a bearing assembly comprising a generally cylindrical pressure chamber containing a multi-port piston 32, 34, 35 and 36 and having a space 54 below the piston for pressure fluid supplied by a pipe 50 through a duct 52, springs 45 being provided for urging the upper part 34 to 36 of the piston away from its lower part 32 so that, in operation, the upper piston part can follow limited axial movements of the crusher main shaft. The lower shaft end 22 has secured thereto a plate 40 which bears through the interposition of a washer 39 on a plate 38 secured to the upper end of the piston. Lubricating and cooling fluid is supplied to the plates 38, 40 and washer 39 by means of a pipe 60 which delivers the liquid through a duct 61 and space 62 to a circumferential space 64, the plates 38, 40 being provided with radial passages 65, 66 which have branches 65a, 66a leading to the upper and lower surfaces of the washer 39. Lubricant is also supplied to a bearing assembly 12 by means of a pipe 70 and duct 71.
