A sheet metal gasket 1, particularly a cylinder head gasket, having sealing corrugations 2 surrounding the apertures therein is stiffened outside the sealing zones by pimple-like projections 3. The projections may be of round, pyramidal or other section and may be arranged in circles concentric with the apertures or in rows or in chequer-board formation.
