Abstract

852,413. Joint-making packing. CURTY & CIE. Aug. 14, 1957 [Sept. 17, 1956], No. 25676/57. Class 122 (3). In a gasket, particularly a cylinder head gasket, comprising a body 2 apertured for the passage of lubricating and cooling fluids, the apertures 3, 4 are bounded by sealing grommets 5, 6 of thermoplastic material applied to the body 2 by injection moulding. The grommets are preferably made of superpolyamidic material and their sealing faces may be smooth or ribbed, as at 16 in Fig. 9. The gasket body may be a single metal sheet 17, Fig. 9, a number of superimposed metal sheets or two metal sheets separated by an asbestos layer.
