Abstract

Low pressure polyolefins are blended with an additive of formula <FORM:0880025/IV (a)/1> wherein each R is H, halogen or alkyl, and the blend is then heated for a time sufficient to cause a reduction in the rate at which the polymer will flow through a given orifice under a given set of conditions. Of the many specified additives, dibenzothiazyldisulphide is preferred. Optional ingredients disclosed are 2, 6-di-t-butyl-4-methylphenol, 4, 41-thiol-bis-(6-t-butyl-m-cresol), carbon black and high pressure polyethylene. Applications specified are sheets, films for foodstuffs, and cable sheaths.
