Abstract

A composition comprising a mixture of polyethylene and a pigment contains a minor amount of polymeric N-vinyl-a -pyrrolidone having a vinylpyrrolidone content of at least 50%. The polymeric N-vinyl-a -pyrrolidone may be a homopolymer or may be copolymerized with vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, acrylonitrile, methyl or ethyl acrylate, or a vinyl ether. The pigment may be titanium dioxide, carbon black, chrome yellow ultramarine blue, or phthalocyanine blues and greens. In examples, polyethylene compositions contain polymerized N-vinyl-a -pyrrolidone, vinyl pyrrolidone-vinyl acetate copolymer, copper phthalocyanine, titanium dioxide and carbon. The compositions are used to make crayons and films.
