Abstract

878,327. Stud and socket fastenings ; hooks. AEROQUIP CORPORATION. Sept. 10, 1958 [Sept. 23, 1957], No. 29087/58. Classes 44 and 89(2). A fastener 10 comprises a body 10a provided with slots 14 in which are confined to be freely rockable therein dogs 13 adapted to be rocked into and out of engagement with a headed stud 12 by a sleeve 11 slidably mounted on the body 10a, the movement of the latter being restrained by a spring-loaded plunger 25. Mounted in the body 10a is a stud 15 for securing the fastener to a member (not shown) and the stud 15 has a head 16 about which the dogs 13 rock. The body 10a is provided with a flange 18 against which the sleeve 11 butts when it is in the dog-engaged position and the sleeve 11 is formed with a shoulder 27 which butts against the plunger 25 when the sleeve is in the dogdisengaged position, the plunger 25 being held depressed by a wall 22 of the sleeve 11 in the latter position. Each slot preferably accommodates two of the dogs and these may be separated from each other by a leaf spring.
