Abstract

876,315. Valves. HUDSON MANUFACTURING CO., H. D. Feb. 10, 1959, No. 4678/59. Class 135. [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] The inlet and outlet valves of a double-acting piston pump are of identical construction and each comprises a cage 51 provided with a shoulder 77 for the end of a spring 78 the other end of which engages a valve disc 49; a further shoulder 79 limits the opening of the valve. The cage 51 is slotted at 80 so that valve seat 48 is gripped by the cage to prevent disassembly during normal handling. The valve seat and disc are of moulded nylon. The pump outlet has a two-position by-pass valve comprising a ball 60 engaged by a spring 61. The spring pressure on the ball may be off-loaded by means of a lever 74 which in the position shown allows the spring to expand; the stem 71 is also threaded so that the spring pressure may be adjusted.
