Class 86 A mixer for concrete and like materials has a pan 1 with a discharging door 18 and stirrers 2 rotated by a vertical shaft 3, and is loaded by a hoist comprising a hopper 6 which discharges into the pan 1 by means of a shoot 13, and runs on rails 7 having a detachable extension 16. A prime mover 10 is mounted in one side of the machine and drives, through a gear box 12 on the other side, the articulated shaft 15 which rotates the stirrer shaft 3, and three cable drums 5, 9, and 11 which respectively operate the loading hopper 6; a vertical hoist, see Fig. 4 (not shown); and a cable 22 attached to a drag shovel.
