Abstract

871,461. Shearing. VYZKUMNY USTAV TVARECICH STROJU A TECHNOLOGIE TVARENA. April 30, 1958, No. 13745/58. Class 83 (4). A shear for cutting short lengths from a bar comprises two pairs of adjacent clamping jaws one pair being movable to cut the bar. One pair of clamping jaws 7, 8 consists of a jaw 7 fixed in a cutting slide 11 and a jaw 8 adjustable in the slide 11 by means of a cam 20 which acts against a force exerted by compressed-air on a piston 18 which through a link 14 applies clamping pressure. The other pair comprise jaws 5, 6 similarly mounted and actuated in the frame 32. With the jaws open the bar is fed by rollers 3, 4, against a stop 9, the jaws are closed and a hammer 26 actuated by a crank 35 hits the cutting slide 11 to effect severing. After severing is completed the slide 11 is held in its extreme position by linkage 27 controlled by a cam and over-riding the force exerted by compressed-air on a piston 33. The cut length is ejected by the stop 9 and the piston 33 returns the slide to its initial position.
