Abstract

870,938. Rotary pipe joints. POWER AUXILIARIES Ltd. (Dunbar Kapple Inc.). Jan. 6, 1958, No. 441/58. Class 99(1). In a swivel pipe coupling a spigot on a member 1 is retained in stepped portions 8, 9 of a socket bore in a member 2 by dowel pins 15 passing through holes in the socket and tangentially through a peripheral groove in the spigot, the latter being stepped in diameter, having a reduced end portion 6 rotatably fitting into a correspondingly reduced portion of the socket bore and co-operating with a compressed O-ring 12 and a gasket 13 accommodated in a chamber formed by the stepped portions 10, 11 of the socket and spigot. A shoulder 18 on the spigot engages an end face of a hexagon 16 on the socket so that the pins 15 can be readily inserted. In a modification, one of the coupling members is formed with an L-bend.
