Abstract
870,913. Variable-speed friction gear. PERBURY ENGINEERING Ltd., and PERRY, F. G. DE B. Sept. 11, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 27809/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 80 (2). The subject-matter is substantially the same as Specification 870,912, but the claims are directed towards the torque responsive cam device for loading the toric discs. The Specification states additionally that the cam rollers (see Specification 870,912) are tapered towards the axis of the drive-shaft, and the cam surface of the driving member of the cam device may be slightly barrelled in profile to give an elliptical contact-area. The rollers may be cam-shaped instead of the surface of the driving-member and disc.
