Abstract

870,762. Suitcase &c. handles. HELLERMANN Ltd. Jan. 4, 1960 [Oct. 8, 1958 ; Jan. 13, 1959], Nos. 32093/58 and 1209/59. Class 133. A carrying handle comprises a sleeve 13 of e.g. polyethylene within which is a resilient metal strip 12 to one end of which is secured a metal end piece 14 looped back on itself in such a way as to receive a fixing member, consisting e.g. of a T-bolt 24 and wearing plate 25, and to slide thereon in the lengthwise direction of the strip 12. In the first example shown, the end piece 14 comprises a cover 16 provided with lugs bent down to form walls 22 and a liner 15 rivetted at 17 to the strip 12, aligned slots 20, 21 being provided in the liner and cover for the bolt 24 which is secured to the article to be carried. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the end piece 42 is a single pressing attached to the strip 12 by punched-out tongues and has lugs 43 bent around the sleeve and strip to form a decorative loop. In another modification the sleeve 13 has a central web 30 and a second strip 31 is provided, while in yet a further embodiment, Figs.3 and 4 (not shown), the fixing member comprises a bolt 24 to which is fixed a buckle 48 passing through the end piece loop which has no slot.
