870,684. Laminates. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. Dec. 17, 1958 [July 2, 1958], No. 40675/58. Class 140. [Also in Group XXVIII] Each of a plurality of heat insulating panels assembled side-by-side and secured to a wall 14, Fig. 3, to form a continuous lining therefor comprises a core 10 of honeycomb construction, e.g. of paper faced on the wall side with a bonded layer 12, e.g. “-inch hardwood, through which passes means, e.g. a stud 46, 48, Fig. 2, by which the panel is secured to the wall 14, and faced on the inner side with a bonded liquid impervious layer of metal 26. The core 10 comprises a plurality of honeycomb slabs 22 separated by and bonded to barrier sheets 24 of resin impregnated paper or metal foil which project beyond the edges of the slabs 22 and into wooden slabs 16 bonded to the peripheral sides of the core. Registering grooves 18 of adjacent slabs 16 are filled with sealing compound 20. The liquid-contacting metal facing 26 has an expansion groove 32 embedded in a groove 30 in the adjacent core slab 22 and has free edge portions 34 secured to those of an adjacent facing 26 by U-shaped channel-members 38. The points of intersection of panels are sealed by metal plates 50, Fig. 6 (not shown).
