Abstract
869,743. Gas burners. SOC. BELGE DE L'AZOTE ET DES PRODUITS CHIMIQUES DU MARLY. April 3, 1958 [April 20, 1957], No. 10876/58. Class 75(1). A gas mixing device for a burner comprises an outer downwardly diverging annular wall 1 and an inner downwardly tapering annular wall 2 defining therebetween an annular mixing zone 13 and an annular mixing chamber 4, and means for injecting oxygen into hydrocarbon gas flowing in the mixing zone 13. The oxygen is delivered by a vertical pipe 8 to the interior of the inner wall 2 and flows through apertures 14 in the inner wall into the mixing zone 13 in a direction at right angles to the flow of hydrocarbon gas. The latter is delivered by a pipe 9 to an annular chamber 10 and passes over the upper inclined edge 12 of the outer wall 1 into a distribution chamber 11 leading to the mixing zone 13. The annular mixing chamber 4 leads to a combustion chamber 6. In a modification a frustoconical plate is disposed across the mixing zone 3 and has perforations by which the hydrocarbon gas is directed in a direction opposite to that of the oxygen entering through the apertures 14.
