Abstract

869,663. Centrifugal fans. KONINLIJKE MACHINEFABRIEK GEBR. STORK & CO. N.V. Feb. 25,1958,No. 6039/58. Class 110 (1). Two sets of hollow blades 10 for a double inlet impeller of a centrifugal fan, having one or more discharge openings 11 for a pressurefluid, extend between the side walls 6, 7 of the impeller and partitions 8, 9 parallel thereto, the partitions constituting the side walls of a chamber closed at its circumference by an annular wall 15. This chamber is supplied with pressure-fluid and communicates with the interiors of the blades through openings 24. The pressure-fluid is supplied by an auxiliary impeller constituted by blades 12 extending between the partitions 8, 9 and plates 13, 14. The inlet to this auxiliary impeller is constituted by a flat tube 19 secured to a fixed annulus 17 making a fluid-tight seal with the annular wall 15 by means of resilient strips 18. A hinged plate 21 in the wall 20 of the fan casing may be moved to allow air from the fan to pass through guide vanes 23 to the tube 19. Alternatively inlet flaps are provided in the front wall of the tube 19. Specifications 780,464 and 869,662 are referred to.
