Abstract

869,572. Valves. STANDARD-THOMSON CORPORATION. Feb. 20, 1958 [Nov. 6, 1957], No. 5491/58. Class 135. A thermostatic valve comprises a flange 12 having a valve seat for a closure member 18, a valve closing tension-spring 20 secured at 22 and 24 to the valve and flange, and a thermal actuator including a body 14 and an element 16 extending from the body, the body and element respectively being supported on either of the flange and valve member to open the valve when the element moves out of the body. As shown, the actuator containing wax is supported on webs on the flange but in an alternative embodiment is attached to the valve which opens downwards against the flow F. The valve may be made of plastic material in which case the spring is attached to it by studs passing through the material. Specifications 757,429, 792,797, 801,881 and 801,882 are referred to.
