Abstract
Parts of nuclear reactor structures exposed to nutron irradiation are formed from boron-free ferritic austenitic, pearlitic or alloy steels containing at least one element alloyed therewith having a microscopic absorbtion cross-section for thermal neutrons of 0.02 cm-1 or less, the amount of the said element or elements lying within the range 0.5-10%. The alloyed element or elements may be one or more of beryllium, zirconium, bismuth, silicon, lead or aluminium.
