Abstract
863,783. Lifting-dogs with automatic control. BRESLAV, J. June 29, 1959 [July 17, 1958], No. 22180/59. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XXV] A lifting tongs is alternately locked in its open position, and released, on successive lowering movements, by a device which includes a rod 31 rotated in steps to engage and disengage a latch 35, 37 when vertical reciprocation of the rod brings pins 32, 33 on it into engagement successively with upper and lower surfaces 29, 30 on a hollow cam 28. The rotation of the rod 31 turns a head 35 between a position in which it is kept in a channel 37 and a position, at right angles to the first position, in which it can escape from the channel. The device is connected between the suspension pin 22 of the lifting tongs and the pin 12 joining its pivoted jaws. Each time the tongs is lowered the cam surface 30 and pins 33 co-operate to turn the head 35 through 45 degrees, when the tongs is subsequently lifted the cam surface 29 and pins 32 turn the head 35 through a further 45 degrees.
