862,682. Pressure casting-machines. KOEHRING CO. June 28, 1957, No. 20548/57. Class 83 (1). A die-casting machine comprises a fixed platen 17, a movable platen 20 attached, as by a screwed adjustment tube 39, to a sliding 'wedge support 24, guide ribs 35, 36 on the support 24 and corresponding grooves in a frame head 16, and wedges 56, 57, movable, by two pairs of toggle links 49, 50, between the head and support so that the wedges engage along zig-zag bearing surfaces. The platen 17 is attached by rods 18 to the head 16. The support 24 carries tongued guides 58 for the wedges 56, 57. The toggle links are pivoted to a rod 43 of an hydraulic piston 42, and interfit to prevent a shear stress on the pivot pin 51 in the wedging position. The head 16 has adjustable wearplates 71, 72. An extension 79 of the rod 43 extends through the support 24 to steady the wedging action.
