Abstract

861,598. Valve gear. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. July 31, 1959 [Aug. 27, 1958], No. 26314/59. Class 7(6). [Also in Group XXXII] A valve rocker arm 14, Fig. 1 is located on a rocker arm shaft 27 by a combined spring and washer member 21 which applies a predetermined end force against the rocker arm. Member 21, of spring steel, is secured by a split pin or sleeve 29 and has a central aperture for the rocker shaft. In the unassembled free state the angle between the leg portions 24 is relatively acute, this angle being increased during assembly under load by the bent edge sections 23 spreading outwardly against the face 27.
